One of my favorite cartoons as a kid was Aladdin. Other than the genie’s great personality, what I liked the most about the movie was that the main character was able to wish for something and it was guaranteed to happen. Over time I have come to realize that everyone of us has a personal genie. The genie in Aladdin was hidden in a secret lamp. In order to find the secret lamp, Aladdin had to travel far into the desert and deep into the ground to a secret cave. Finding our personal genie requires the same type of effort. We have to search deep within ourselves and get in touch with that voice that tells us to do the right thing and that we can be great. The same thing in us that makes us dream of greatness is the same thing that tells us to do the right thing. Unfortunately often times we ignore this voice and it becomes smaller and smaller until it is not in control of us. In order to achieve our dreams, the positive voice in us has to get back in control. In other words we first have to achieve self discipline before we can start working towards our dreams. Once the positive side of us is in control we can start creating our ideal world. Almost everyone knows the right thing to do, and we all know that the right thing would make us better off. Once we empower the positive side of us we are more apt to take actions that would make our dreams come true. Our dreams come true because we are able to consistently take action towards its attainment. We empower the positive voice in us by obeying it. Discipline yourself and start creating your dream.
